(On Next) Top menu bar
This update is only available in our Next environment. We are testing it as a final step before production, focusing on identifying bugs, assessing usability, and improving quality.
The planned official production launch is in week 46.
The top menu bar runs along the top of the task view. Its dropdown menus gather task-level actions and settings: task information, copying links and IDs, your personal preferences, display settings for the camera images and the point cloud, floating settings windows, and help resources.
The menus
TaskTask — task information and history, view links and IDs, OpenLABEL export, take a break, pause the task, and go back to the dashboards.
EditEdit — undo and redo, reset your changes, and copy, paste and duplicate objects.
Preferences — your personal settings: language, cursors, mouse mapping, pixel snapping, tab behavior, ground-based auto-adjustment, and keybindings.
View — display settings: image processing, the 3D camera, grids, projections, trajectories, nodes, predictions, point cloud display, and task guides.
Adjustments — opens floating settings windows, such as camera settings, geometry settings, and point cloud settings.
Annotations — hide and lock classes and objects, point clipping, how object information is displayed, and unifying size and direction.
Help — menu search, the task guideline, user documentation, troubleshooting, issue reporting, and debug information.
Inside most menus, items are grouped under short headings, such as Camera or Point cloud display.
See Top bar changes for more detailed information.
Find a menu item
Press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on macOS) to open Help with the search field selected, then type part of an item's name.
Each result shows the menu path to the item. Use the arrow keys to move through the results; the item is highlighted in its menu as you go. Press `Enter` to select it. Toggles and options change without closing the menu, so you can try several in a row.
Items that aren't available right now are still listed, with a short tag that tells you why, for example 3D view only or Select an object. Hover the tag for the full reason.
Why you may see different menu items
The top menu bar adapts to your task, so you will not always see every menu or every item:
- Task type - Point cloud items appear only in tasks that include a 3D view, and some image items appear only when you are working in a 2D view.
- Task action - Review tasks add review-specific items, such as Feedback pins and comments under View → Task guides.
- Role and permissions - A few items require extra permissions, for example, downloading the OpenLABEL JSON.
- View mode -The 2D grid view and guided workflows show a reduced set of menus.
If an item is visible but disabled, it usually needs something from you first — for example, you must select an object before Duplicate becomes available.
Shortcuts in the menus
Menu items show the keyboard shortcut currently bound to the action. These are your own keybindings — change them via Preferences → Keybinding settings.... See The keybindings window.
Also in the top bar
The bar also shows status information that is not part of any menu:
- The sync status of your work - see Cloud sync .
- The Property overlay toggle - see Property overlay.
