## How to validate

If live validation is not active, the validation button is at the bottom right of the task view. Press it to validate the task. If live validation is available, the task will be continuously evaluated, and no button will be shown.

- If there are no errors, the submit button will **replace** the validation button, and you can submit the task immediately. 
- If errors exist, you must solve them and validate the task again. You will find all errors in the validation log.

## The validation log

The Validation list summarizes all errors or warnings after a task's validation and provides you with the necessary information about each issue.

You can adjust the width of the sidebar to your preference by dragging the left side horizontally.

You can archive warnings by expanding them and clicking the archive icon. Turn on the **Show archived** filter to see archived warnings and restore them.

To see only one object's issues, open **Filters** and select **Selected object only** under **Object**. The filter turns on by itself when you open an object's report card from the object list.

## The to-do tab

This tab will only be available in tasks containing both feedback and validation items.

We found that it can be difficult for you to understand what feedback or validation items is required to be fixed to be able to submit the task. With the to-do tab, we hope to remove that decision-making. 

The following items will be available in the *to-do *tab:

- **Unresolved** correction requests (feedback)
- Validation **errors**

## Troubleshooting: the annotation instruction changed

**Symptom.** When you open a task, a dialog titled **Annotation instruction has changed** appears with the message *"The annotation instruction has been changed. Property validation warnings may appear and require your attention."* You may then see property-validation warnings on objects you did not touch.

**Cause.** The task's guideline was updated after your annotations were created. To keep your work aligned with the current guideline, the application automatically repairs the stored annotations (for example, remapping classifications and property values). The dialog appears only when something was actually repaired.

**Solution.** Click **Ok, got it!** to dismiss the dialog, then validate the task as usual and resolve any property-validation warnings that appear in the validation log before you submit.

If you ever need to re-run the repair manually, open the top menu bar and choose **Help** -> **Repair task**. A confirmation dialog warns that "*Properties and annotations may be affected if you choose to repair this task. Only do this if you are absolutely sure.*" Use it only when instructed to, as it can change existing properties and annotations.
