Scale mode

We have two types of scale controls availalble for 3D boxes.

Default scale mode

Press key C to engage β€˜scale mode’, this gives you axis-controls for resizing the object.

Scale-cubes mode

Press key C again to engage β€˜scale-cubes mode’, this gives you white cubes positioned on the cuboid.

Click and drag one of the white control cubes along the box edge to scale the box.

Rotate box

Press key X to activate the rotation mode. Rotate by dragging one of the ellipses.

Object direction

You can tell the objects direction in three ways:

  1. Unselected objects have a direction arrow
  2. Selected objects have a filled side indicating the direction,
  3. Selected objects have a transformation control that is pink and this face the object's direction as well.

You can change the object's direction by clicking the button in the left side menu, or by using the assigned shortcut (default ,).

Edit with shortcut

  1. Hold control and click on the axis you want to start editing
    • Green color indicates which axis that has been activated

2. Change between axises:

  • Windows users: Hold control + up OR down key
    • Use up and down keys to adjust the values
  • Mac users: Hold control + shift + up OR down key2.
    • Use up and down keys to adjust the values

Snapping

If you don't want to drag or use shortcuts to edit a cuboid side, we offer an alternative way.

  1. Activated the translate or scale mode,
  2. Snap one side: Hold alt and click on the blue, pink OR orange control.
    • The corresponding cuboid side will snap to the nearest point.
  3. Snap all sides: Hold alt and click on the diamond located in the center of the cuboid.
    • All cuboid sides will snap to the nearest points.

Shortcuts in grid view

When grid view is active, w, a, s, d are repurposed from navigation keys to editing keyboard shortcuts. The camera view which your mouse cursor is in will be active, indicated by the green highlight border. Using these keys you will edit the object with the active transformation mode.

In rotation mode only a and d will rotate the object in the active view.

In scale mode you will adjust one side at a time. pressing e will change the side you are editing with shortcuts.

Two point tool

While adjusting an object in grid view or in the side cameras (3D camera sources), this tool is available to you. It is activated by holding shift+t (default keybinding, see Keybindings window for the actual binding), then simply click and drag to align the objects rotation and position with the line formed. In the back and right view the objects is placed ontop of the line in adition to the rotation aligning, in the top view the objects rotation is only updated.
